How I WHOOP!

WHOOP has taken their technology to the next level and has developed algorithms to detect your strain and recovery based on your heart rate variability (HRV), which is essentially a measure of your body’s reactiveness to stress. A high HRV indicates your body is ready to take on stress, where a low HRV indicates your body may be still recovering.

When determining recovery, WHOOP factors in HRV, resting heart rate, sleep performance, and respiratory rate. Based on your recovery, WHOOP recommends an optimal strain each day.

By adjusting your workouts depending on your WHOOP recovery score, you can optimize your workouts and prevent injuries/overstrain. This takes training to a whole new level when you evolve to Recovery-Based Training.

 

My favorite feature of the WHOOP are the weekly and monthly summary reports. WHOOP generates a holistic view of your strain, sleep, recovery, and it gives an easy to understand breakdown of your activity. 

Each morning you will complete a customized journal of your choosing. There are many personalized journal checkpoints that you can choose to track. WHOOP correlates your entries in your daily journal to your recovery and strain levels and provides a weekly and monthly report on which habits may be helping or hurting your recovery.
