As an athlete, a lot of strain is put on your body. Adding gelatin to your diet can help bulletproof your body for contact and exertion.
You might be wondering, what is the difference between collagen and gelatin? Essentially, they are the same thing just used differently. Gelatin is best used as a cooking thickener and for making gelatinous desserts/gummies, while collagen can be mixed into beverages.
These gummies are packed full of natural, easy to absorb Vitamin C. Vit C improves the absorption of collagen, therefore you will be getting a power packed bite!
Here is my recipe for at home Vitamin C packed Gelatin Gummies:
You will need:
1 cup fresh squeezed juice (I thawed out ~2 cups of frozen cherries and juiced them)
4 tbsp grass-fed gelatin
1 tsp whole food vitamin C powder (I used Acerola Powder)
1-3 tbsp raw honey (optional)
(I added 8 capsules of Tart Cherry for added antioxidants. Totally optional!)
Instructions:
1. Add juice, gelatin, and 1 tbsp honey to a saucepan and whisk until there are no lumps.
2. Heat over low heat until the gelatin is fully dissolved. Stir constantly. Heat until around 115F. A meat or candy thermometer will work.
3. Allow the mixture to cool to 105F-110F before whisking in vitamin C.
4. Pour the mixture into a small parchment lined pan or into your candy mold of choice.
5. Pop into freezer for about 10 minutes. Cut your gummies into 16 servings.
6. Store in fridge for up to 10 days. Serving size: 1 gummy
